Varhrān (ワルフラーン, Warufurān) is the brother, or in actuality, the father, of Magsarion, the good friend to Sirius, fiancée of Nahid, and a legendary hero of the Ashavan.

He was beloved by many, and feared by the Dregvant. Though he tragically passed away during Khvarenah's attack on Wahman Yasht, this is what everyone thought, however, he just disappeared and was still alive, waiting for the right moment to come back and face Magsarion.

Personality[]

He is described as being a very passionate individual, much like his brother. But his passion is far less hateful and aggressive than Magsarion's, being far more hotheaded and rash than it is to being violent and angry.

He is described as being highly charismatic despite his hotheadedness, laughing and crying more than anyone else.

He loved and cherished his loved ones, seeing them as his greatest treasures. He wants to protect them, and through protecting them, he believes he is protecting himself. He also believes that by taking on the burdens of others, he can not only make their lives easier, but also make himself stronger.
As an extension to this, he deeply wished to fulfill the desires of the Divine Sword, promising her an immutable truth, even if he couldn't understand her.[1]

He wishes to learn more about and better understand the Age of Zero, and much that he did was based around the actualization of this goal, and when he sets a goal, he abandons all sense of self-preservation in order to bring about its actualization. As shown by him allowing himself to die in order to set the stage where more radiant existences can be born and shaped, in order to bring more soldiers into the great army of Pantheon.

He was described as being unfathomable, a man who falls outside of rationality. And this brought many to be deeply interested in him and his anomalous being.

Abilities[]

Ever since childhood he displayed great skill and power, easily besting Sirius, and when he was only thirteen he was able to slay a Quasi-Demon King. A feat that even the most experienced of Yazata cannot claim to of achieved.

His skills in combat are unparralled, reaching such levels that he was able to fight and kill even Demon Kings, the most powerful beings in all of Ahura Mazda, who are capable of killing Star Spirits with ease. Making him in turn among the most powerful of beings in Ahura Mazda, especially when compared to other Ashavan.

He is the wielder of the Divine Sword

When Masada was asked where he would fit in his ranking, he said that Varhram is "on the highest rares of tier 7" which is the tier of Hadou and Gudou Gods.

Saoshyant Desatir[]

Main article: Saoshyant Desatir

He was described as being able to give rise to infinite miracles. Born of his Commandment, Sayoshyant Desatir, for the binding of, "Always achieving victory against his enemies", he gets "Being able to add his defeated enemies' strength and special abilities to himself" as a boon.

This means that the more powerful the enemies he defeats are, the faster he would grow stronger. For it is a Commandment that embodies the concept of "victor", thus, as a natural privilege, he is able to make the vanquished's weapons and powers his own.

He is able to take not just the Authority of a Star Spirit, but also the Commandments of the vanquished. Though all Commandments are integrated towards the goal of always achieving victory, thus he does not wind up with Multiple Commandments.

Though too does come with the weakness that he cannot control or predict the form that they will take, with many becoming arbitrary and sometimes even outright disposable.

It is not as simple as just taking abilities alone, but is also capable of taking more abstract ideas and emotions, such as Sirius's Love, and Nahid's position as Hero, and thus it is through this that he is capable of understanding the Age of Zero, as he plundered Bushyasta's memories of the Age of Zero, and it is due to this that he gained his ability as a translator of the information of that past era.

Ushtan Yasht[]

Main article: Ushtan Yasht

A Commandment he plundered from Munsarat. The form of Binding it takes is unknown, though it allows one to see into the future to a limited extent, giving a form of foresight or prophecy. He was capable of seeing many years into the past, even able to see into the Age of Zero.

Understanding of Zero[]

He is able to understand the information that makes up the Age of Zero, and is capable of translating it into a form that others not of that age could understand. This is an ability that he plundered from Bushyasta, mixed with the ability of Saoshyant Desatir to modify the information making up Commandments, in order to allow him to translate it.

He can grant this Translation to others, as shown by his granting of knowledge concerning Zero to Ahura Mazda.

This translation is foundemental to defeating Zero as he can translate Zero's attacks which are beyond concepts such as weak and strong that applies to the gods and are conceptual to them, into attacks that they can face off, thus surpassing any God in history.

Trivia[]

His name is a reference Verethragna, as Varhran is a Slavic Deity that many scholars consider to be cognate to Verethragna. Who is an Iranian deity, and is also an Avestan neuter noun literally meaning "smiting of resistance".

A hymn is raised to him in the Bahram Yasht. Specifically Yasht 14, "the most highly armed" (Yasht 14.1), the "best equipped with might" (14.13), with "effervescent glory" (14.3), has "conquering superiority" (14.64), and is in constant battle with men and daemons (14.4, 14.62)[2]

This is further supplemented by his collection of hymns being called Warharan Vast.

Desatir (Ordinances), also known as Desatir-i-Asmani, is a Zoroastrian text written in an invented language. It is not part of mainline Zoroastrianism, only having a tenuous connection to it, and was largely influenced by the 12th Century philosopher Suhravardi.
