The Fourth Heaven, also known as the Eternal Recurrence of Mercury (永劫水銀回帰, eigou suigin kaiki), is the Heaven under the Rule of Mercurius, where he Emanates his Law of Eternal Reccurence (永劫回帰, eigou kaiki).

Under this Law,  the World constantly repeats itself untill Mercurius can experience his desired end.  Thus it is the World of Foreknowledge, where everything is known. Everything is predetermined. Known by Reinhard Heydrich as "The Ghetto of Eternal Foreknowledge".

Due to the repititious nature of this World, those with a close connection to Mercurius would gain an everpresent sensation of Foreknowledge, a type of deja vu. This Foreknowledge is born from a limited awareness of previous iterations of the Eternal Recurrence of Mercury, allowing them to predict what will happen next, or to feel a sense of boredom as nothing feels like a new experience.

It was marked not just by its length, but also its size. For Mercurius dramatically increased the scale of the World, expanding it from a singular Universe into a infinite Muktiverse, all of which iterated under his Law.

Duration[]

Its exact length is unknown, though it is explained as going through a Nayuta (那由多) of fourty thousand year cycles. The definition of Nayuta however, is quite vauge. It could refer to the Buddhist term meaning an extremely great number, often said to be 100 million (10^8). Though it could also be purely numeric, where it refers to either One Novemdecillion (10^60) and one Trevingintillion (10^72).

Thus its length would be one of three:

  • Four Trillion (4e12) Years
  • Fourty Vingintillion (4e66) Years
  • Fourty Quattuorvigintillion (4e76) Years

The exact definition being used as not being confirmed.  It ends with Mercurius abdicating the Throne to Marie, allowing her to become the new God. Emmanating out her Law and creating the Fifth Heaven.

Trivia[]

Its Japanese name is made from inserting "Mercury" (水銀) in the centre of the Yojijukugo 永劫回帰, or Eternal Reccurence, specifically refering to the concept as it appears in Nietzsche's philosophy ewige Wiederkunft. It is also the name of Mercurius' Law.

Eternal Return, as shown in Dies Irae and in philosphy, is the idea of the world endlessly repeating, as so that there is nothing new under the sun.

« “The greatest weight.-- What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: 'This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your life will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence - even this spider and this moonlight between the trees, and even this moment and I myself. The eternal hourglass of existence is turned upside down again and again, and you with it, speck of dust!'
Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus?... Or how well disposed would you have to become to yourself and to life to crave nothing more fervently than this ultimate eternal confirmation and seal?”[1] »
